President Bola Tinubu GCFR assented to the 2024 Budget at a brief ceremony held on Monday, at the State House, Abuja hours after he arrived from his Yuletide holiday in Lagos.
At the signing of the bill into law, the President was flanked by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Abbas Tajudeen PhD.
Other Members of the National Assembly present at the ceremony were the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation; Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (APC, Lagos), Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation; Rep. Abubakar Kabir Bichi (APC, Kano) among others.
The Chief of Staff to the President; Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, 'Wale Edun; Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu,were also present at the ceremony.
The 2024 Budget passed by both chambers of the National Assembly on Saturday, December 30, 2023 is N1.2 trillion higher than the N27.5trn proposal presented by the President to Parliament on November 29, 2023.
