Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen PhD, has congratulated the National Male Football Team for securing a place in the Semi-finals of the ongoing African Cup of Nations.
Speaker Abbas stated this in a congratulatory note to Nigerians and the Super Eagles after their 1-0 win over the Antelopes of Angola in a Quarterfinal match played on Friday in Côte d’Ivoire.
Expressing pride in the “boys,” the number four citizen assured that the team will continue to soar higher and higher. He also wished them the best of luck in the next game.
“Yes, the Super Eagles have done it again! Congratulations to our team, congratulations Nigeria and Nigerians. We are proud of our boys.
The Super Eagles will continue to soar higher and higher. I wish the Super Eagles best of luck in their semi-final match,” the Speaker noted.
On his part, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Rep. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, described the win as “yet another resounding victory.”
He extolled the team for their display of skill, hard work and determination; all of which he said has made Nigeria proud and united everyone in celebration.
“Once again, your display of skill, hard work, and determination has made our nation proud, uniting us all in celebration,” his message read in part.
Rt. Hon. Kalu who was part of a National Delegation present at the stadium to cheer the team, further expressed unshaken confidence and belief in their ability to bring home the trophy.
“With unshaken confidence, we believe you will bring home the African Cup of Nations! Keep soaring, Eagles!” he added.
