The House of Representatives is committed to transparency and accountability in its pursuit of justice in respect of the carnage that occurred in Okuama, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State on March 14, 2024. In adherence to the House's resolution of March 19, 2024, the 10th Assembly, House of Representatives is organising an investigative hearing in respect of the subject to explore the immediate and remote causes, effects, and the perpetrators of the tragic incident that led to the loss of lives, including military officers, and other related events.

The investigative public hearing offers a critical platform for stakeholders to provide valuable information and recommendations. Accordingly, concerned stakeholders and members of the public are invited to the event to be held with details as follows:
Date: Thursday, April 25, 2024
Time: 10:00 AM
Venue: Conference Hall, Government House Annex, Edjeba Warri, Delta State
We also call for memoranda from stakeholders to enrich the deliberations. Members of the public willing to submit memoranda are requested to prepare ten (10) copies and submit them to the Committee no later than 1 (one) week from today - Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
Memoranda should be addressed to: Clerk, House Committee on Defence, Room 315, White House, House of Representatives, National Assembly, Three Arms Zone, Abuja.
The event is in line with the Legislative Agenda of the 10th Assembly, House of Representatives, which prioritises the security of lives and property, welfare of all Nigerians, protection of our uniformed men and women, and robust public engagement.
The House Committee on Defence looks forward to a robust engagement and meaningful contributions from all stakeholders.
Signed:
Rep. Babajimi Benson
Chairman, House Committee on Defence
Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr.
House Spokesman/Chairman, House Committee on Media & Public Affairs
